In Ukraine, birth rates fall by 7% annually

In Ukraine, birth rates have been falling by about 7% per year since 2013, and the war has led to an even greater fertility crisis. This was reported by the Ministry of Health and the National Health Service of Ukraine, reports Ukrinform.
It is noted that in 2023, an average of about 16,100 children were born every month. For comparison, in previous years, before the full-scale invasion, the number of babies fluctuated between 21,000 and 23,000 per month.
According to the National Health Service, in 2023, 176,981 births were recorded in the electronic health care system (EHS), and data on 178,128 children were entered in the EHS. Accordingly, in 2021, 256,814 births were recorded in Ukraine, and the number of children born, whose data were entered in the National Health Service, amounted to 259,895.
In 2022, there were 190,393 births in Ukraine, the number of children born, the data of which are entered in the National Health Service, is 192,691.
There is no data on how many Ukrainian women gave birth abroad after February 24, 2022.
We will remind you that in the summer of last year it was reported that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the birth rate in Ukraine has decreased by 28%.
