Switching to gas will further reduce coal consumption by about 150,000 tons per month, and will also give companies time to replenish coal reserves.
This week, Kyiv CHP-5 and CHP-6, as well as Kharkiv CHP-5 will be launched on natural gas, which will save about 150,000 tons of coal per month. This was announced by First Deputy Minister of Energy Yuriy Vlasenko.

"This week, Kyiv CHP-5 and CHP-6, Kharkiv CHP-5 with natural gas, with a total capacity of 600 MW, will be launched," he said.

As the representative of the Ministry of Energy explained, in addition to the fact that this will further reduce coal consumption by about 150,000 tons per month, it will also give time for companies to replenish coal reserves.

"Through such actions, we give the generating companies the opportunity to replenish coal reserves in warehouses," said the First Deputy Minister.

He said that in November, the thermal power plant is expected to supply about 1.9 million tons of coal. Including Ukrainian production – 1.4 million tons, imported – about 500 thousand tons. Imports are expected from Poland, the USA and Kazakhstan.
