On August 29, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani, on the sidelines of the Council of Ministers of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, stated that Ukraine cannot use Italian weapons for strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation, stressing that Italy is not at war with Moscow.

Tajani emphasized that Italy maintains its position regarding the weapons provided to Ukraine, and that the country "is not at war with Moscow."

"We sent mainly defensive weapons, now we are going to send a new Samp-T battery, which is defensive and cannot be used on Russian territory. We repeat that we are not at war with Russia, NATO is not at war with Russia, therefore Italy's position remains unchanged – to use our weapons on the territory of Ukraine."
