A swindler from Pryluk introduced himself as a law enforcement officer and swindled money from the family of a missing serviceman.
In the Chernihiv region, a swindler was arrested who, posing as a law enforcement officer, extorted money from the family of a missing serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the National Police on Monday, June 10.
A resident of the city of Pryluk, previously convicted of fraud, was involved in extorting money from the family of a missing serviceman.
Having introduced himself as a policeman, the suspect came to the soldier's mother and informed her that her son was evading the mobilization draft and was allegedly wanted. However, for three thousand dollars, he promised to resolve the issue with the TCC and remove him from the wanted list. The mother, believing the lies of the pseudo-law enforcement officer, gave away all her savings.
However, later, taking advantage of the woman's emotional state, the attacker contacted his victim again. He said that he had fulfilled his part of the contract, so she should finally settle with him. In case of refusal to pay, he threatened the family with trouble.
The woman turned to the police for help. The perpetrator was arrested immediately after handing over 40,000 hryvnias.
The man was informed of the suspicion. He faces up to seven years behind bars.
