The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy confirmed that Ukraine will receive the second SAMP/T air defense system

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani, confirmed that the SAMP/T air defense system is included in the new package of military aid to Ukraine, as previously reported by the media.

The head of the Italian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the government is preparing "another package" of military aid, the content of which, as in previous cases, will be confidential.

"But it is known that we will send SAMP-T, which is a means of air defense, that is, protection that Ukraine itself asked us for, this is not a secret," he added.

At the same time, Tajani emphasized that Italy will not send troops to Ukraine, and Italian weapons cannot be used to attack Russia.

Earlier, the media reported that Italy could approve a new military aid package with an air defense system after the G7 summit in mid-June.

Ukraine received the first SAMP/T system, also known as MAMBA, in 2023. This Franco-Italian battery can track dozens of targets and intercept 10 simultaneously – and it's also the only European-made system capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.
